Verona Singer has a PhD from Dalhousie University and a Masters in Criminology from the University of Ottawa. Verona has worked as a practitioner in the field of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and criminal justice for 30 years. She is the former manager of victim services with the Halifax Regional Police and currently teaches part-time in the Criminology Department at Saint Mary’s University. Verona sits on numerous committees and boards such as the Nova Scotia Advisory Council on the Status of Women, Halifax Gendered Violence Restorative Conversations Committee, Restorative Justice Governance Committee, and the Metro Interagency Committee on Family Violence. Verona’s research includes the high-risk case coordination protocol, gendered violence in the Halifax Regional Municipality, and restorative practices in gendered violence.
