Dr. Busra Yalcinoz-Ucan is currently a post-doctoral fellow in the Psychology Department at the University of Waterloo, working with Dr. Dillion Browne in a community partnership project on the evaluation of clinical services for women victims/survivors of violence. She is also a research associate with the Centre for the Study of Social and Legal Responses to Violence at the University of Guelph. She was previously a visiting graduate scholar at CSSLRV from 2017 to 2019. Yalcinoz-Ucan completed her Ph.D. at the Department of Clinical Psychology, Bogazici University, Turkey. In her Ph.D. research, she utilized a feminist-informed contextualized framework to examine women’s processes of safety-seeking from violence, with a focus on their experiences of staying in and leaving the relationships and their post-separation well-being. She is also a practicing psychotherapist and currently provides online therapy services to individuals in need.
